The 5 Jupiter European Funds offer a great opportunity for investments in a range of European companies, or Europe-based global companies. Here we look at just one, the Jupiter European Fund, to give an idea of what Jupiter has to offer.
Jupiter Investments – Jupiter European Fund
Jupiter European is a Jupiter investment fund investing in global corporations based in Europe, operating with exposure to both mature and emerging economies. The fund is a unit trust, and a concentrated investment with the top ten of its over 30 stocks making up around 59% of the fund. Jupiter investments manager Alex Darwall seeks out companies with low levels of debt, a strong business model, and exposure to fast-growing economies around the world. The fund returned 68.1% on investment over 5 years to August 2009.
Another Jupiter investment opportunity managed by Alex Darwall is the Jupiter European Growth fund. Again focusing on Europe-based companies operating globally, the Jupiter European Growth fund returned 25% on investments over 5 years to August 2009.
The range of Jupiter investments also includes the Jupiter European Special Situations Fund, investing in European companies that may be, but are not necessarily globally active. The fund returned 90.9% in the 5 years to August 2009. Manager Cedric de Fonclare favours large, well-established companies that dominate a specialist niche.
Another of the Jupiter investments funds he manages is the Jupiter European Opportunites fund. Having returned 37.6% in the 5 years to August 2009, this Jupiter investment fund has a four-star rating from Morningstar.
The fifth in the range of Europe-oriented Jupiter investments is the Jupiter European Income Fund, managed by Malcolm Millar, who favours organically growing investments in 60-90 companies with the aim of generating a high income over time. This fund is one of the younger members of the Jupiter investment stable, having been launched in 2007.
Jupiter Investments – the Merlin Portfolios
The Jupiter Merlin Portfolios are a range of four Jupiter investments based on the funds of funds model, each having a number of underlying Jupiter investment funds.
The Jupiter Merlin Income Portfolio consists of mainly UK-based income-generating investments, with up to 60% of the portfolio in equities and most of the remainder invested in fixed interest.
The Jupiter Merlin Balanced Portfolio is a Jupiter investment offering exposure of up to 75% in UK and international equities and fixed interest stocks.
The Jupiter Merlin Growth Portfolio is a Jupiter investment with a core holding in the UK, but also investing across a range of geographical areas.
The Jupiter Merlin Worldwide Portfolio has no geographical bias, but is one of the Jupiter investments which invest widely across the globe.
