Tap into an industrial revolution – Lazard Emerging Markets Fund
Emerging markets account for three quarters of the globe by land mass, and over 80% of the world’s population. These are young, growing populations eager to accumulate wealth and become consumers.
The countries covered by the Lazard Emerging Markets Fund contain 90% of the world’s oil and gas reserves, 70% of the world’s coal and 60% of its copper, nickel and iron ore.
During 2009, the combined imports of Brazil, Russia, India and China surpassed the USA for the first time, indicating that the region will reduce global dependence on the US consumer.
While emerging market investments are not for the faint-hearted and volatility in the short-term can be expected, the potential gains are excellent. Emerging market investments included in London’s Investment Management Association’s listings rose by an average of 70% during 2009. This was attributed to the massive industrial revolution now taking place.
Generally speaking, an emerging markets investment fund is a good choice for those with a longer investment horizon. Younger people investing in a pension fund, for example, may find an emerging markets investment fund a particularly attractive option.
